BOW (Rey)

Japanese Martial Arts starts and finish with a Bow. The Dojo (School of Karate) is the place where we learn both the spirit and the technique of Karate.

We must not enter the Dojo with malice or antagonism because this can lead to dangerous accidents. When we are in the Dojo we must feel purposeful, alert and the Bow is the focal point of this feeling.

At the beginning and the end of each Kata, must Bow. This is part of the Kata.

R.N.2. To those who practice Karate, the Dojo is sacred place. Bow to the Dojo and Instructor on entering to affirm our intention to train hard and seriously; and we Bow on leaving to show thanks for a good training session.

R.N.14. Any student who arrives after training has begun or leaves before training has finished, shall do a full kneeling Bow at the edge of the Dojo.
